Sally Steedman, Coromandel - The importance of valid consultation about chemicals.

Last year Hekiera Mareroa ran a trapping project with the tamariki of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Harataunga that taught the kids about the native species and the pest species of Harataunga. Hekiera also taught the kids about the different types of traps that trappers use to catch these pests.

And after the lessons were all set and done the project was finished with an art class project where each of the tamariki of the school received their own outdoor rat traps (donated by Hunt Trap Harataunga & DOC) to draw and paint with their own designs to take home and set up at their house.

All in all a very successful day with our tamariki and they loved every bit of it and cant wait to do it again with us.
